Cassandra

Cassandra was the daughter of Priam, king of Troy, who had the gift of prophesy. However, because she did not keep her promise to Apollo, he penalized her by no one believing her.
She foretold the destruction of Troy because of Paris and Helen and prevented Troadites from accepting the Trojan Horse, but she did not convince anyone.
When Troy was captured Ajax the Lesser took her from the altar of Athena and during the distribution of the gifts Agamemnon took her as a concubine. In Mycenae, where they came, she was murdered along with Agamemnon to whom she had foretold the end.

Meaning: Cassandra is called any man or woman who foretells the coming of someone 

evil. It is used metaphorically for those who predict what will happen, but nobody listens to their recommendations, or generally for women or men prophets.

ΚασσάνδραΉ Κασσάνδρα ήταν κόρη του Πριάμου, βασιλιά τής Τροίας, πού είχε το χάρισμα να προφητεύει. Επειδή όμως δεν κράτησε τον λόγο της στον Απόλλωνα, εκείνος την τιμώρησε με το να μην την πιστεύει κανείς.
Προείπε την καταστροφή τής Τροίας εξ αιτίας του Πάρη και της Ελένης και απέτρεπε τούς Τρωαδίτες να δεχθούν τον Δούρειο Ίππο, αλλά δεν έπεισε κανέναν.
Όταν αλώθηκε ή Τροία ό Αίας ο Λοκρός την απόσπασε από τον βωμό της Αθηνάς και κατά την διανομή των δώρων την πήρε ως παλλακίδα ο Αγαμέμνονας. Στις Μυκήνες, πού ήρθαν, δολοφονήθηκε μαζί με τον Αγαμέμνονα στον οποίο του προείπε το τέλος.

Σημασία: Κασσάνδρα ονομάζουμε οποιονδήποτε άντρα ή γυναίκα πού προλέγει τον ερχομό κάποιου κακού. Λέγεται μεταφορικά για όσους προβλέπουν ό,τι θα γίνει, μα πού κανείς δεν ακούει τις συστάσεις τους, ή και γενικά για γυναίκες ή άντρες προφήτες.
